Merkaartor in some live CD distribution?
Added by oui oui over 1 year ago
Hi
I did try to install Merkaartor in my usual linux distribution (used since more than 5 years! I will not and probably can't chance it!) and it was not possible. To much dependencies...
For this reason, I would be interesting to find an linux live CD distribution with it on board (knopix, slitaz linux, slax, puppy linux are example or archetypes of it) to start it only on demand if I need to handle with geo data and save only the result on my hard disk.
Is such a live CD available?
If there are more as one, I would prefer a distribution starting without CD as live ISO from hard disk and working in the RAM (typical: puppy linux; knopix, for example, is to big, to heavy to do that...)

I did remaster a newer Puppy Linux derivative named Puppy Exprimo including in it Merkaartor. Enjoy it! To start, you need a system with a boot loader like grub legacy or grub for windows or pc-grub / grub2 and install adequate start lines in the configuration, untar the tar ball in a new dir like indicated and restart.
See the discussion http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=582611#582611 at the Puppy forum!
