Merkaartor

On the heels of 0.18.0, here is Merkaartor 0.18.1

This bugfix release mainly address the problems with virtual nodes and track segments not being available.

By popular request, it also removes area fill in wireframe mode. In place, you have now the possibility (via Preferences) to use the current style for wireframe, for foreground colour, area fill and way width.

There is some confusion regarding the new ways rendering is done while editing (i.e. "'Black' lines and dots are not updated during moving").

In "Preferences-Rendering", there are 3 new options under "Editing". They range from fastest to slowest

• Quick editing
  In this mode, the full map is not rendered at all while editing. This is the fastest mode but the trade off is that only the highlights are updated and you don't see immediately the result of your edition.

• Wireframe editing
  In this mode, the display switches to a plain, non-styled, wireframe display while editing.

• Full render editing
  In this mode, the full map is rendered in real-time (although still asynchronously). This is the closest to 0.17 but is slow and produces some flicker.

Those modifications were done in order to smooth the editing process (Merkaartor is mainly an editor after all) but all suggestions are welcome.

As you might have noticed, an old 0.17 bug coupled with an OSM infrastructure upgrade led to the impossibility of uploading changes, recently.

Although (thanks to Jonathan) the upgrade was reversed, it is nonetheless more than time to release Merkaartor 0.18.0, after a very long quiet time, and even though the release hasn't been as thoroughly tested as I'd like (so expect bugs and crashes)...

Besides this blocking issue and usual bug fixes, the changes are too many too enumerate. The most obvious one you will notice is that the full rendering of the map is now done asynchronously, which fluidify panning and zooming, especially with large datasets.

This to inform you that the Windows debug nightly builds are resuming for 0.18 at http://www.semperpax.com/merkaartor/nightly-builds/windows/
As indicated, those builds use the Qt 4.7.1 debug libraries available at the same location.

• New preference: "Allow node/way creation in select mode". When checked, allows double-click to create a node and double-click on a node to start a way in select mode.
• Snap to angle functionality when creating way: keeping "o" pressed snap to 45° angles, "h" snap to 30° angles
• Ability to enter and select multiple OSM servers in preferences
• Use Nominatim (http://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/) for place name lookup due to gazetteer closure
• Support for XAPI
• Allow to rename a layer by double-clicking on its name
• If a shapefile do not provide its projection, ask the user for it and do not crash
• "Set view projection to layer's" action added to image layers; set the main projection to the one of the layer
• Tool to align edges to regularly spaced angles (can orthogonalise buildings)

• Add a "portable" mode to merkaartor via command-line ("-p") or build setting ("PORTABLE=1")
• Add a "Find" button to the Feature dock. Press "Reset" to revert to list current features.
